We are the Scent Hub UK

The Scent Hub UK was founded by Ben Poole and Alex Giffen. With a passion for Scentwork and it’s benefits to pet dogs, both completed extensive training in both handling and instructing to achieve their City and Guilds qualifications through The College of Scent Dogs. Both are now Ambassadors for the college who are renowned the world over.

Both are also qualified members of the IMDT (Institute of Modern Dog Trainers) Ben and Alex collectively have over a decade of experience helping owners and their dogs live happy lives through training, enrichment and scentwork. It is now their goal to bring the world of scent dog training to pet-dog owners across the UK through fun, ‘scenario based’ training.

Who are The College of Scent Dogs?

Founded by Dr Robert Hewings Bsc MA. D/Prof, The College of Scent Dogs are an elite scent-dog training establishment providing a truly unique mix of proven operational search-dog experience and academic qualifications that are unparalleled within the worldwide scent detection dog training community. Using their incredible and proven experience, retired police dog handlers and trainers Doctor Rob and Karen Hewings deliver the highest quality of training and assessment to handlers and instructors which is overseen by City and Guilds. All students undergo rigorous assessment to ensure the highest standards.

Ben

Ben holds City and Guilds qualifications in Scent Dog Handling and Instructing. Starting out as a pet-dog trainer and behaviour consultant in 2014, Ben has learned from some of the industry’s top professionals such as Steve Mann (IMDT) and Dr Rob Hewings (The College of Scent Dogs). With a passion for learning, professional development and dressing up, Ben also works for The College of Scent Dogs teaching their world renowned City and Guilds Scent Detection and Trailing Instructor courses.


Alex

Alex is a fully qualified and accredited IMDT Trainer alongside being a City and Guilds qualified Scent Dog Instructor and Handler. His journey began after bringing Benji, his Bernese Mountain Dog Puppy to Ben’s puppy classes! Alex is a naturally skilled handler and  caught the bug for training, he helped to rehabilitate his rescue dog Luna through Scentwork and now teaches other owners the wonders of Scentwork.
